Edward Barturen As a small child living in Oklahoma, surrounded by family and friends, Edward watched in awe as Ed Sullivan introduced The Beatles. Everything in his life changed forever. His first love was the drums. At the age of twelve, now living in Florida, he and his classmates formed a band. They played at parties, school functions, or anywhere they were asked to play. Two years later, the band split up. It was boring being a drummer and having no band. He traded his skim-board for an acoustic guitar, and taught himself to play, of course, Beatle songs. Soon Edward was writing and composing his own material. In 1976, he formed the most important band of his musical life. The name of the band was Born Dead. The name for the band came to him just minutes before the four of them were to walk into a recording studio for their first time. He remembered Alice Cooper on the Tonight Show saying he had picked his name to shock people so they would remember his name. Born Dead did just that. They played at parties and carnivals, but mostly, just for the love of it, and no one ever forgot the name. In time, that band also split up. To make a long story short, the CD titled “The Lady” contains ten original compositions which he has released as a solo artist. Edward does all of the vocals and plays not only the guitar but also, on some of the songs, plays bass, keyboards and percussion, The Great Late producer Tom Dowd told Edward that he especially liked “The Lady” which is why he chose it as the title for his CD. Edward is a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers and also of the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences. It’s been a very long road in making this CD a reality. The things that have kept the dream alive are the support of his family and the passion he feels for music. If you let go of your dreams, you let go of yourself.
